My business is about putting a smile on people’s faces. It starts with the energy, which translates through my dance and music visuals. I went to the university of North Carolina at chapel hill for a semester and half.
Both my family and I thought that that’s where I wanted to be but, things weren’t exactly what I expected. I thought college was going to be fun and full of experiences that I’d remember forever but it just wasn’t the vibe. I love the people I connected with while being there but I knew I was meant for something greater than what I was doing.
So I started to take my dance videos more serious and was one of the few people that used the dance studio at my school. I tried posting as much as possible while completing my school work, but I knew I wasn’t putting my all into the work, I was passionate about something else. I told my peers and family what was up. I wanted to leave school and take my career as an artist, seriously. Everyone but a select few people were scared and worried about my decision. Momma and I were always fussing and fighting for some time while I was going to Atlanta and LA to make videos and collaborate with folks.
I had to make a name for myself on my own it felt like because not many people around me were too insightful of my vision. Over time, people’s eyes started to open up and the support and faith grew. Ever since I was little I’ve been curious about life and what it is that we’re supposed to do here. God thankfully blessed me with a couple things to help me figure out what I’m supposed to do. I was making dance videos on my laptop for youtube about 10 years ago. Before then, I was dancing any and everywhere. Learning how to flip was the first thing closely related to dance that I did. I’m so glad I’m still able to do what I do during this pandemic. I feel the world hurting and I just want to alleviate some of that pain in any way I can.
I think we all have a fair chance, but I’m so motivated to be that light for the world that I feel is missing. A breath of fresh air, you know? There’s many things that I’ve done that people may think are plausible but I’m just completing my mission just like everyone else.
My family back home know where I’m supposed to be. They are patient but eager for me and I love that. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel my momma thinking about me and praying for me. It’s nothing but love around me all the time and that’s my motivation. The best advice I’ve gotten since my career has started is just to not be afraid of anything, and to just have fun.
I see myself hopefully being extremely happy with what I’ve done and what I’ll continue to do. I hope to have many influential moments and great records for people to enjoy. This life is to be fully taken advantage of… Momma always told me to make the best of it so that’s what I’m going to do.
